A Late Christmas Present from Santa
After 4 and half years of asking almost everyday for a dog, we finally gave in. We did a little research on what kind of a dog we wanted and did some internet searching. We found a breeder of westies in western Kentucky that would have a litter of puppies ready around Christmas time. Our puppy is named Riley, she is a westie-scottie mix, she is 8 weeks old, and she is adorable. And these kids are so happy. My big 13 year old is the most smitten with her. It is so funny to watch. Everyone loves her. Yeah Santa for delivering on that one...lol.

After Christmas Lazies
I hope your Christmas was filled lots of family and fun. Now that the festivities have died down we have been doing a whole lot of nothing. Not a lot of cleaning going on, just the minimum. Been to the movies a few times. Doing some much needed relaxing. December is such a crazy month, I don't feel bad at all taking a few days off to just unwind. My hubby goes back to work tomorrow and I am actually dying to take down my tree and other decorations. I have some projects to finish and start. But it has been a great few days. I hope your Christmas was filled with peace and joy and the new year will be a wonderful one for you.

Oh Christmas Tee
I had been wanting to make some Christmas t-shirts for my girls this year and couldn't come up with anything until... Pinterest. I saw a design similar to this on my sister's Pinterest collection and loved it. I recycled some t-shirts I dyed green for Halloween. I backed the ribbon with a red and white striped fabric that I appliqued on there. Then I cut and pinned the ribbon loops one row at a time starting at the bottom. I sewed across the top of each. Then pinned the next row and sewed until I had my tree filled in. I tied a red bow and hand stitched it to the top of the tree. They will be so cute to wear to see Santa tomorrow. (I meant to take some pictures and do a tutorial but in my haste to get them done I forgot to take the pictures along the way).
A Great Milestone
I turned 40 today. And I am rather happy about it. It is a new milestone in life's journey and it feels good to be embarking on a new decade of life. I did not think I would feel this way but I am glad that I do. So for my birthday I wanted only one thing. An antique horse. I saw one in an antique shop and knew that was what I wanted for my birthday. Here it is. I think it's lovely. His name is Merry and he has a new home on top of our tv armoire. Thanks hubby for getting him for me.

So You Think You Can Sew
I am entering the sewing contest at http://www.mommybydaycrafterbynight.blogspot.com/
For my project I am submitting my Pate Meadows Delaine valances I made for my loving room. They are my favorite project I I have ever made for my home and some of my best sewing work. If you have never seen Pate Meadows patterns I definitely recommend checking them out. Some gorgeous eye candy on their website and their patterns are well written. Check them out at http://www.patemeadows.com/.
I Love It and Hate It
Technology...I love it and I hate it all at the same time. I have had a technologically imposed leave of absence from my blog for the past 6 weeks while I worked on some computer issues. I have not been able to get my computer to download any pics from my camera. It has taken my husband and I a while to figure out the problem. I swear my computer knows when it is me trying to do something and it says to its other computer friends "watch this" and they all have a good laugh at my expense. (lol).
So frustrating...

Boo to U Mantle
My mantle is my absolute favorite spot to decorate in my house. I change it around all the time. I decided to decorate it for Halloween with things I already had on hand. I have an old window frame that hangs there all the time that I like to try different things with. This time I added scrapbook paper between each frame. I took some painted face pumpkins that my Mom painted for me years ago and hung them on the 3 different spaces. The lanterns are old Southern Living at Home that I added candy corn and orange candles to. The trick or treat banner was made last year as well as the purple letters. I would like it to read Boo 2 - U, but I can't find a chipboard 2. The votives and purple lights are from the clearance at Hobby Lobby last year. I spent all of $1.50 on the scrapbook paper. I like the way it turned out. (I hate the cord hanging down. Dont' have photoshop to get rid of it.)
